Kim Smith Investment Specialist – Bonds
Kim joined First Quartile in 2006 and specialises in investment writing and investment consultancy.
She worked in the City for over 20 years, where she began her investment career with Prudential Portfolio Managers (PPM). Kim worked as a Fund Manager in the Fixed Income team for 15 years, during which time she took a leading role in the formation of investment policy and specialised in servicing the needs of Institutional Clients. In 1993, Kim was appointed Assistant Director and Head of PPM's Institutional Fixed Income business, where she was responsible for growing the segregated institutional business from under £500 million to over £1.5 billion.
In 1998, Kim decided to refocus her life to give greater time to her young family. She became a consultant, working for M&G Investment Management Ltd. During this time, she undertook an investment writing role as well as being responsible for the creation of all M&G's Institutional Fixed Income RFPs. Kim studied for a BSc in Pure Mathematics at the University of Warwick and qualified as an Associate of the Society of Investment Analysts.
